Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do I need to know how to meditate to join the retreat?
The meditations during the retreat will be guided by our teacher Kushok Lobsang Dhamchöe. You do not need to have previous experience with meditation to join this retreat. Learning under a skilled teacher like Kushok is the perfect way to ground your practice in this centuries old tradition of mindfulness.
Can I attend if I’m not Buddhist?
The teachings during the retreat will focus on mindfulness meditation, compassion, and altruism. These universal ethics and practices are common to most spiritual traditions and can fit comfortably into your life whether you identify as Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Baha’i, Muslim, or any other faith. For people who are agnostic or secular these practices can offer a kinder and gentler approach to relationships, both personal and professional.
What type of yoga will be taught?
Our morning yoga classes will be Hatha Yoga. These classes will be accessible for all levels, including beginners. Our yoga teacher, Timmie Horvath, is skilled in teaching to a wide variety of clients and can accommodate most requests and levels of ability.
What are the age requirements to attend?
This retreat is geared towards adults/seniors. Retreatants should be 18 years of age or older. In order to provide a focused learning environment for all retreatants, children are not able to attend retreat sessions.
